About steam.
Established in 2015
As a way to promote STEAM education in NYC, we started off as a group of 30 students in the summer of '15. With the help of UAU, Staten Island Tech staff, and in collaboration with the Projectivity Group (a local non-for-profit focused on arts and technology), our enrollment has jumped to 350 campers with 150 taking part in STEAM.
What makes our camp unique is that campers will interact every day with current Staten Island Tech students and staff who serves as counselors assisting, helping to keep the camp fun, challenging and engaging.

Our Goal
We aim to educate students to become leaders with a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. This camp is part of a six week program that will take place at Staten Island Technical High School this summer. Our goal is to give students between the ages of 10 and 13 a jump start on achieving their career goals and to expose them to the technologies and courses that are available at Staten Island Technical High School.
Our Team

As a technology teacher at Staten Island Technical High School, Mr. Henriques uses his chemical and ceramic engineering background to help teach the introductory engineering and robotics curriculum at Tech. His courses survey a variety of ABET-approved engineering disciplines through theoretical and hands-on problem solving using the engineering design process.
At the Summer Camp he is responsible for introducing students to LEGO robotics as well as designing miniature circuits with Little Bits. |
